Two former EOs of TTD and retired Chief Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh Sri IYR Ramakrishna Rao. Sri L.V. Subrahmanyam, Sri Dasari Srinivasulu IAS(Retired.), columnist Dr. Duggaraju Srinivasa Rao, Senior Auditor sri Sunkavalli Ramakrishna spoke on the fie issues now concerned with TTD.

  1. What sill be the repercussions if TTD funds are with drawn from the public sector Banks and deposited in the central and State securities for earning better interest?
  2. Can the TTD funds be diverted to non- dharmic activities and issues involved there in.
  3. Auditing of TTD accounts by CAG
  4. Why the non- Hindu employees working in TTD are not removed from service.
  5. How much amount is being spent by TTD on the Hindu Dharma pracharam.

TTSS district President sri Hari Krishna Murthy presided while the TTSS Tirupati city President Dr. Sridhar conducted the webinar.

Dr. Duggaraju Srinivasa Rao who first spoke said that the current government is politicizing every issue concerning TTD and is thinking that they can do any thing since they have the majority in the assembly. He questioned the idea of investing in the central securities without consulting the centre on that. At this stage Sri L.V. Subrahmanyam intervened to clarify that the proposal was not that of state government but that of TTD only. Dr. Duggaraju said that mere higher rate of interest can’t be the criterion for investment of TTD funds. He questioned whether TTD will go to private organizations if they offer higher interest. He asked whether proper auditing is going on in TTD. Why TTD is hesitating to bring the TTD audit into the CAG purview.

Using the TTD funds for non- dharmic activities is questioned by Dr Srinivasa Rao. Why funds are being diverted and when such diversions have started and how much was diverted by earlier regimes and what amount the present government diverted should be revealed at once was the demand made by Dr Rao. He expressed his anger over the continuation of non-Hindus in TTD despite the GOs banning such recruitment. The recruitment basing on the high school caste and religious certificate should be stopped and their religious beliefs should be made a condition in recruitment was the suggestion made by him.

Sri Dasari Srinivasulu demanded discussion on the income and expenditure of TTD. He asked TTSS to focus on the protection of TTD properties valued in hundreds of crores located in different parts of the country which are being occupied by various grops. He gave specific examples of such occupations.

Auditor Sri Sunkavalli Ramakrishna said TTSS should question the way the government is dealing with TTD affairs. He quoted the instances where the temple lands were taken by government for their pet schemes without compensating the temples and one such case was there in Tadepalligudem itself since 25 years. So, such cases should not recur else where and diversion of temple lands and funds to non-dharmic activities should be stopped at once. He called for a mass movement for protection of temples.

Sri IYR Ramakrishna Rao appreciated the TTSS initiative and requested the organization to record this program and circulate through social media and organize similar meets in much larger scale. If TTD wants to invest in state and central securities, they should obtain the permission of RBI and if it done through RBI there is nothing to worry was the comment he made. So, TTD should be asked to openly explain the mode of their investments and till such a time the resolution should be kept in pendency. TTD is neglecting the issue of dharma campaign through Dharma Prachara Parishat. How much money is going for Dharmic campaign must be known from TTD he said. Many issues are coming out of TTD and all of them need to be enquires was his comment. He questioned the current policy of suspending free darshan and allowing only who paid high amounts. People should take up this issue in a massive campaign way.

Sri LV Subrahmanyam said that large share of TTD income is going to the salaries and establishment. In the days of reduced bank interest TTD is forced to look for higher interests’ ways was his opinion. Properties donated to TTD are some times are so small pieces of land that protecting them becomes more expensive than the original value of the sites. However, the way TTD tried to auction the properties is suspicious and people naturally agitated was what he said. He questioned the extended TTD Board size where 35 members are accommodated as a political patronize. They have no work and there is nothing they can contribute to the TTD affairs.  So, Sri LV asked the government to rethink on the composition and strength of the TTD Board.  He lamented the situation which he himself observed as EO and how he was chained with rules on the non-Hindu employees in TTD and their behavior while performing duties in the temple. The employees lack the dharmic outlook was the observation of sri LV. He said that all those suspected of non-Hindu characters should be taken to task by visiting their houses and recording their way of religious life which they are leading and thus exposing the deceit of such TTD employees.

Dr. Sridhar of TTSS Tirupati city explained the activities which the organization took up since its inception since 2006.
