Prominent lawyer and social activist Shri Gottipati Muralimohan passed away this afternoon. Sri Murali Mohan belongs to a prominent family in Krishna district. His father Venkateswara Rao Chaudhary is also well known as a lawyer.
He went to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh shakha at his high school level. During the tenure of the late Bhogadi Durgaprasad as Vijayawada Vibhag Pracharak, Sri Murali Mohan was enthusiastically engaged in social work. At that time in Krishna district he worked as in charge of the district administration (Zilla Karyavaha). He also spent some time in prison during the 1975 Emergency. At that time his father Venkateswara Rao Chowdhury had an acquaintance with the Congress leaders and with the help of reputation he tried to get Sri Murali Mohan released from jail. At that time, the jail authorities asked Mr. Murali Mohan to write a letter stating that he had no connection with the RSS. The proposal was unequivocally rejected by Shri Murali Mohan and he was imprisoned.
He later contested the 1977 elections for the Vijayawada Parliament on behalf of the Janata Party. Later he served as the Sanghachalak of the Vijayawada Division (Vibhag) and later the Andhra Pradesh Regional Officer.
His wife Mrs. Swatantrabharati worked in high positions in the medical department. They have four daughters and a son. Their eldest daughter died of a heart attack last month. Remaining three daughters are in abroad. Sri Muralimohan couple stayed with their son. The late Muralimohan was an idealist who devoted his full energy to the expansion of social work throughout his life.
