S.I stops women from playing Bathukamma – D. S. P allowed the return with the wrath of the villagers

While Women in the village were playing Batukamma during Navratri festivities in Jayanthi village, Virulapadu Mandal, Krishna district, Andhrapradesh, Virulapadu S.I Hariprasad visited the village and rudely stopped the Bathukamma celebrations on the pretext of Covid rules.
The women who play Batukamma and elders in the Village said that they are now conducting these poojas as part of the festivities they celebrate every year, that they are playing Batukamma and that they are participating in a limited number in poojas keeping in view the Covid rules. The SI sat in awe, saying, “I will stay here and see how Batukamma plays,” without listening to the women and village elders. S.I threatened the villagers who tried him to convince. The villagers, who were deeply saddened by the incident, expressed their outrage over the S.I trend. A tense atmosphere prevailed in the village.
By immediately knowing the situation State BJP general secretary Shri Vishnu Vardhan Reddy visited Jayanthi village and expressed his outrage over the incident. He said that Government officials, showing lenient attitude on the activities of other religions. “It is not right for the police and government officials to act in such a brutal manner when it comes to Hindu festivals and ceremonies. That it is an insult to Hindu Dharma and that we does not tolerate the partisan attitude of the authorities.” He said. And he warned that there was a firestorm of anger in the Hindu community in the wake of the various incidents taking place in the state and that they would face fierce resistance from the Hindu community in the future if government agencies and officials did not refrain from such behaviour.
The CI and DSP visited the village and inspected the situation in the village. Talked to the village elders and consoled them. The DSP informed the villagers that the Batukamma festival should be celebrate without fear as per the Covid rules. The DSP assured the villagers that appropriate action would be taken against SI Hariprasad, who had acted rudely to hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
